About Sea School

alt

The Seaschool is run by a team of volunteers who share a passion for the environment and love children.  Our lessons are usually at Samrec where our current penguin population is always happy to see new faces!

We also go to schools, libraries, retirement centres and other organisations on request and adapt our lessons to suit the needs of the audience.

Our programmes are continually expanded to comply with teacher requests. The topics on offer include Penguins, Pollution, Recycling, Seals, Whales, Dolphins, Endangered Species, Reproduction, Garden Birds, Marine Birds, Shipwrecks, Frogs, Ballast, Bats, Reptiles, Coastal Plants, Indigenous Plants, Rockpools, Wetlands, Bugs and Shells.

Wherever possible we include hands-on exploration of the nearby rock pools and our coastal environment.  A variety of teaching aids - posters, taxidermy specimens, touch tables, games, live specimens and even dress up clothing - help to make the lesson more memorable and relevant.

We usually have a Holiday Club during the June/July and December Holidays. Phone or email us at Samrec to find out more about this.

Phone us anytime to book a lesson and we will check the diary to find a day that suits you best.
